Złoty Stok is undoubtedly one of the most famous cities of the Kłodzko Land. Popular because of its gold mine, it has much more to offer. Find out the top reasons to visit the Golden Slope! Here are tourist and natural attractions worthy of visiting.
Złoty Stok — Highlights
Złoty Stok is a city with traditions dating back to the 14th century. However, there are documents that confirm that gold was mined there since the first half of the 13th century, that is, almost 100 years before it was granted city rights. This, in turn, makes it the oldest mining and metallurgical center in Poland. As such, it functioned for several centuries — the last mine in Złoty Stok was closed in 1961. At that time, it is estimated, about 16 tons of pure gold were mined.
The city can be reached directly by national road no. 46 and provincial road no. 390. Developed infrastructure means that Złoty Stok has accommodation and gastronomy maintained at a high level. The scale of tourist traffic is very well illustrated by the fact that the gold mine itself is visited every year by 100 to even 200 thousand people. It is one of the most frequently visited in Poland. Do you want to know other interesting information about the region? You will find them in the article “Explore the Kłodzko Basin — curiosities”.
